London Gatwick has launched a booking service enabling connecting flights between low-cost and full-service airlines to be booked in a single transaction.

“GatwickConnects”, which is currently only available on flights with Easyjet, Norwegian and Wow Airlines, also offers a guarantee to “look after customers if flights don’t operate as planned”.

The service, available for a fee, is currently only available when booking through price comparison sites Skyscanner and Dohop.

The airport said: “In the event that your inbound flight is delayed or cancelled, and so you miss your outbound flight from Gatwick, we will ensure you get onto the next available departure to your destination, at no extra cost to you. We will also provide you with hotel and food vouchers if necessary.”

Stewart Wingate, Gatwick CEO, said: “Gatwick is a competitive and innovative airport that can respond quickly to the changing way people are choosing to fly.

“We are uniquely placed to offer a service like GatwickConnects, due to the breadth of our route network and our diverse short and long haul airline mix.

“This new service will provide outstanding choice for passengers, as well as genuine savings, and we will offer travellers a range of hassle free check-in, baggage handling and hospitality benefits while they are with us.”
