SAS will launch a narrowbody B737 service between Copenhagen and New York Newark next month.
The Scandinavian airline will roster a reconfigured B737 with 20 seats in business class and 66 "Go" economy seats on to an evening departure, which will operate six-times weekly.
On every day except Tuesday, the outbound service will depart Copenhagen at 1825 and arrive in New York at 2135, while the return leg will leave New York at 2255 and landing in Copenhagen at 1245 the next day.
The service will start at the beginning of the winter season in late October. It will run alongside flights SK901/902, operated by an A330-300, on the route.
The B737 is currently flying, in a business class-only 44-seat configuration, between Stavanger and Houston. That route will end on October 24 due to a "downturn in the [oil] industry".
The aircraft will then be reconfigured into two classes and will almost immediately join the Copenhagen-New York route.
Eivind Roald, SAS' executive vice president commercial, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer this evening departure that is particularly appealing to travellers wanting to spend a full day in Copenhagen or New York before flying. People traveling for business purposes often prefer this timetable."
SAS will also fly daily between Stockholm and Los Angeles from March 14, and three-times weekly between both Oslo and Miami and Copenhagen and Miami from autumn 2016 (see news, August 24).
