SAS launches Stockholm-Hong Kong route

10 Sep 2015 by GrahamSmith

SAS will launch its first Stockholm-Hong Kong service this afternoon.

Flight SK963 will depart Stockholm at 1500 (1400 BST) and land in Hong Kong at 0720 (0020 BST) tomorrow.

Return service SK964 will take off from Hong Kong at 0905 (0205 BST) and land in Stockholm at 1435 (1335 BST) the same day.

The route will operate five-times weekly — on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with the return legs flying the following day — using A330-300 and A340-300 aircraft.

SAS said the new route makes it "the only airline to fly direct between Scandinavia and Hong Kong".

Rickard Gustafson, SAS president and CEO, said: "Today, we are writing a new chapter in the history of SAS, as we launch our direct route between Stockholm and Hong Kong.

"We are very proud to be linking Stockholm and the rest of Scandinavia with Hong Kong through a convenient new connection."

SAS currently flies long-haul to New York, Washington DC, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Last month, the Scandinavian carrier announced it will fly daily between Stockholm and Los Angeles from March 14, and three-times weekly between both Oslo and Miami and Copenhagen and Miami from autumn 2016 (see news, August 24).
