Emirates begins second Iran route

4 Sep 2015 by GrahamSmith

Emirates has launched its second route to Iran with a five-times weekly service to Mashhad.

The Gulf carrier, which also flies four-times daily to Tehran, will roster an A330-200 in a two-class configuration on to the route.

The service will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Outbound service EK967 will depart Dubai at 0410 and arrive at Mashhad at 0700, while return service EK968 will leave Mashhad at 0845 and land in Dubai at 1045.

These times are correct for the remainder of the summer season, until late October. However, when daylight savings time ends in Iran on September 22, the arrival/departures times in Mashhad will be an hour earlier.

Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates' divisional senior vice president, said: "The new service to Mashhad will not only enhance trade ties with the UAE, but will also introduce travellers to Emirates' vast route network, opening up new opportunities to connect efficiently with destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and West Asia through our world-class Dubai hub."

Yesterday, Emirates took delivery of four wide-bodied aircraft in one day - a company record (see news, September 3).
