Qatar Airways to return to Nagpur

28 Aug 2015 by GrahamSmith

Qatar Airways will resume flights to Nagpur after an absence of six-and-a-half years.

The Gulf carrier last flew to the Indian city between September 2007 and May 2009.

It will roster a daily A320 — configured in two classes with 12 seats in business and 132 in economy — on to the Doha-Nagpur route from December 1.

Outbound service QR588 will depart Doha at 1955 and arrive in Nagpur at 0215 the next day. Return leg QR589 will leave Nagpur at 0345 and land in Doha at 0555.

The move will see Qatar Airways up its total weekly schedule to India from 95 to 102 flights across 13 cities.

CEO Akbar Al Baker said: "Reinstating the Doha-Nagpur route is part of Qatar Airways' strategy to service increasing demand by providing the best possible flying experience to our customers in India.

"Today, India has the largest number of destinations served by our carrier across any market and we will continue to look for more destinations and additional flights to expand our reach in the Indian subcontinent."

Last week, Qatar Airways confirmed that all future deliveries of B777 aircraft will be configured ten-abreast in economy (see news, August 20).
