Emirates adds second Frankfurt A380

26 Aug 2015 by GrahamSmith

Emirates will fly a second daily A380 to Frankfurt in 2016.

The Gulf carrier currently operates a daily superjumbo (EK45/46) and double-daily B777 service (EK44/45 and EK47/48) to the German city.

From January 1, flights EK47/48 will switch from a B777-300ER to the A380.

Outbound service EK47 departs Dubai at 1435 and arrives in Frankfurt at 1840, while the return leg leaves Frankfurt at 2030 and lands in Dubai at 0610 the next day.

Emirates first rostered an A380 to Frankfurt in September last year (see news, June 2014).

Hubert Frach, divisional senior vice president at the airline, said: "Our daily A380 service to Frankfurt proved to be extremely popular and we're happy that demand has been so strong that we needed to increase capacity on the route.

"In fact, our four gateways in Germany are doing extremely well with three of them boasting a daily or double-daily A380 service. Should the opportunity arise, Emirates would be keen to fly to additional cities that are currently underserved, offering more choices to travellers."

Emirates configures its A380 in three classes, with 14 suites in first class, 76 seats in business and 429 in economy.
