Hilton axes in-room TV pornography

24 Aug 2015 by GrahamSmith

Hilton Worldwide is set to eliminate adult entertainment TV channels from its hotel rooms.

The group said pornographic video-on-demand entertainment is no longer in accordance with its "vision and goals".

By next July, adult pay-per-view content will be removed from all Hilton properties worldwide.

For the last few years, Hilton Worldwide has been listed on the US National Centre On Sexual Exploitation's "Dirty Dozen List", which calls out 12 "leading contributors to sexual exploitation", including Facebook, You Tube and Cosmopolitan magazine.

The move brings Hilton in line with other hospitality brands, such as Marriott, Ritz Carlton, and Nordic Choice Hotels, who have also opted to eliminate pornography from their in-room entertainment.

Hilton Worldwide said in a statement: "We are making immediate changes to our global brand standards to eliminate adult video-on-demand entertainment in all our hotels worldwide.

"While the vast majority of our properties already do not offer this content today, this content will be phased out of all other hotels subject to the terms of their contracts."

Earlier this month, Hilton launched a "Digital Key" feature for its HHonors smartphone app (see news, August 12).
