Emirates to serve Bamako

22 Jul 2015 by GrahamSmith

Emirates will launch a service to Bamako, Mali this winter.

The Gulf airline will commence the four-times weekly Dubai-Bamako-Dakar-Dubai service on October 25. It will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The route will be operated by a three-class A340-300 with 12 seats in first class, 42 in business and 213 in economy.

The service will depart Dubai at 0720 and arrive in Bamako at 1310. It will then leave Bamako at 1440 and land in Dakar at 1630, before taking-off from Dakar at 1800 and arriving back in Dubai at 0730 the next day.

Bamako will be Emirates' 28th destination in Africa.

Emirates senior vice president Adil Al Ghaith said: "There is currently no direct service between Dubai and Bamako... We expect that linking Bamako to our Dakar service will greatly boost both business and leisure travel to and from Mali."

Earlier this week, Emirates flew a one-off A380 "proving" service to Taiwan (see news, July 21).
