Star Alliance members United Airlines and Air China have expanded their codeshare agreement to include 22 new routes.
United will place its UA code on ten Air China-operated domestic flights — from Beijing to Mianyang, Taiyuan, Sanya, Shanghai Hongqiao, Yinchuan, Xining, Liuzhou, Haikou and Lanzhou; and from Shanghai Pudong to Yinchuan.
Air China will place its CA code on 12 United-operated domestic flights — from Los Angeles to Dallas, Cleveland, Tucson, San Antonio, New York Newark and Seattle; from San Francisco to Salt Lake City and Austin; from Washington DC to Columbus and Tampa; and from Houston to Tampa and Nashville.
The move means United and Air China now codeshare together on more than 100 routes.
Air China has six gateways in the US — New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Washington DC and Honolulu.
Last week, it was announced that Air China will launch a non-stop service between Beijing and Montreal later this year as part of its joint venture agreement with Air Canada (see news, May 28).
