Air Canada Rouge is converting business class on all its A319 aircraft from a 3-3 to a 2-2 seating configuration.
By the middle of next month, all business cabins on the airline's 20 A319s will no longer have a 3-3 layout with the middle seat empty.
Instead, there will be two seats side-by-side, each with a power plug, USB port and coat hook. This configuration will result in more space, the airline said.
A statement said: "Additional customer convenience features include a centre console and pop-out cocktail tray between the two seats."
Air Canada Rouge is also installing new curved overhead compartment doors that, it says, will increase the amount of storage space for carry-on luggage by 30 per cent.
And the airline is upgrading its inflight entertainment (IFE) system on all its A319 and B767 aircraft.
A streaming system, the "Player", is free to passengers who have download a free app, while an Apple iPad rental programme provides passengers with iPad Air 2 tablets featuring dozens of films and games.
Benjamin Smith, Air Canada's president of passenger airlines, said: "The new business class seating on rouge Airbus A319 aircraft provides more space and comfort and, together with complimentary bar and meal service, is in line with our award winning Air Canada business class...
"These product improvements, including business class seating offering the same or more space than equivalent seating on widebody rouge Boeing 767 aircraft, provides customers with a market leading premium product in North America."
Air Canada Rouge has added four weekly non-stop flights onto its Dublin to Toronto route this summer (see news, February 12).
