25 May 2015 by GrahamSmith

Intercontinental Hotels Group will open its first Hotel Indigo property in Los Angeles in 2016.

The 350-room Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles will be part of the Metropolis mixed-use development at 899 Francisco Street near the city's financial district.

Metropolis, which is under construction at a cost of more than $1 billion, will feature three residential towers and retail space.

Facilities at the hotel will include a restaurant and a bar.

The property was designed by architecture firm Gensler, with the interior design by Hirsch Bedner Associates/HBA Los Angeles.

Elie Maalouf, IHG's CEO in the Americas, said: "Hotel Indigo continues to be a strong growth vehicle for IHG, and with 63 hotels open and a further 63 in the pipeline, there is excellent momentum for the brand on a global scale."

Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles, which opens in winter 2016, is owned by Greenland LA Metropolis Hotel Development and will be managed by an affiliate of IHG.

Last month, IHG announced it will open the first Hotel Indigo in the United Arab Emirates in 2017 (see news, April 22).
