12 May 2015 by GrahamSmith

Qatar Airways has launched an A350 XWB service between Doha and Singapore.

The QR944/945 return service is the Gulf airline's second, after Frankfurt, to be operated by the aircraft (see news, October 2014).

Its second daily flight to Singapore will also soon become an A350 XWB operation and, from June 1, a third daily flight to Changi airport will begin. All three services will be flown by the A350 from mid-August.

From the beginning of June, flights QR944, QR938 and QR942 will depart Doha at 0225, 0700 and 2025 and arrive in Singapore at 1515, 1950 and 0915 the next day respectively.

Return services QR945, QR939 and QR943 will leave Singapore at 0230, 2120 and 1040 and land in Doha at 0505, 2355 and 1315 respectively.

Qatar Airways is the first carrier to fly the A350 XWB to Singapore and the Asia Pacific region. It has a total of 80 A350 XWBs on order.

Business class has 36 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration featuring an 80-inch fully-flat bed, while economy contains 247 18-inch wide seats in a 3-3-3 configuration.

Qatar Airways CCO Marwan Koleilat said: "The A350 XWB is the third and final major new aircraft in a decade and Qatar Airways is delighted to be the first global airline to fly this state-of-the-art aircraft into Singapore and Asia Pacific.

"Singapore is a key market for Qatar Airways and we remain committed to offering our Singapore-based passengers the best in-flight experience possible. With the A350 XWB, all 283 passengers can be assured of unprecedented levels of comfort across all classes when travelling to Doha and onwards to key destinations in Europe and the Americas."
