British Airways has launched a new in-flight Tate Channel, featuring a series of short films presenting intimate portraits of the world’s leading artists.
The new channel – which BA says is the first of its kinds for any airline worldwide – features short films following Tate artists including Grayson Perry, Ai Wei Wei, Yayoi Kusama and Damien Hirst.
The films have already had over seven million views on You Tube, and in-flight entertainment manager Richard D’Cruze said that there was “definitely a trend to use your flight time to discover something new and different and feel a sense of accomplishment when you step off a plane”.
The Tate Channel is available under the Factual section of BA’s in-flight entertainment programme, on aircraft with the carrier’s Thales IFE system, including its B787 Dreamliners and A380 superjumbos.
