Emirates to fly second A380 to Zurich

8 Apr 2015 by GrahamSmith

Emirates will launch a second daily A380 service to Zurich later this year.

From October 1, the Gulf carrier will replace the B777-300ER that currently operates flights EK85/86 with a superjumbo.

The move will add 945 seats a week on the route, Emirates said.

The A380 will be configured in three classes with 14 first class suites, 76 fully-flat seats in business and 399 seats in economy.

Outbound service EK85 departs Dubai at 1545 and arrives in Zurich at 2020. Return service EK86 leaves Zurich at 2215 and lands in Dubai at 0625 the next day.

Hubert Frach, Emirates divisional senior vice president, said: "We anticipate that adding a second daily A380 to Zurich will not only enhance the travel experience of our passengers, but also stimulate trade and tourism between Switzerland, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East.

"The additional A380 service from Zurich makes it even easier for travellers to enjoy a seamless Emirates A380 experience to key destinations like Mauritius, Bangkok, Shanghai, Sydney or Hong Kong, with just one stop at our hub in Dubai.

Emirates first introduced an A380 on to its twice-daily Dubai-Zurich route in January 2014.

Last month, the carrier opened a $6.5 million lounge at Los Angeles International airport (see news, March 19).
