Etihad to fly B787-9 to Washington from Sunday

12 Mar 2015 by GrahamSmith

Etihad Airways will roster a B787-9 Dreamliner onto its daily service to Washington, DC from Sunday.

The move will mark the US debut of the Gulf carrier's new first, business and economy class products (see news, May 2014).

Etihad's B787-9 aircraft contains three classes with eight first class suites, 28 business seats and 199 economy seats.

Outbound service EY131 departs Abu Dhabi at 1130 and arrives at Washington Dulles International at 1845, while return service EY130 leaves Washington at 2250 and lands in Abu Dhabi at 1945 the next day.

Etihad president and CEO James Hogan said: "As the most technologically advanced aircraft in its class, the Boeing 787 will reduce the operating costs and carbon emissions on our Washington, DC route and provide maximum efficiency and reliability.

"Importantly, we have customised the aircraft with the world's most innovative and sophisticated first, business and economy class cabins, providing our guests with superior levels of comfort and attention to detail not previously enjoyed by the modern air traveller."

All Etihad Airways passengers flying from Abu Dhabi to the US now benefit from US immigration pre-clearance (see news, January 12).

Washington, D.C. is one of six US destinations served by the airline. The others are San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas Fort Worth, Chicago and New York.
