Air Astana yesterday debuted its Economy Sleeper class product on its B757 services from Astana to London and Frankfurt.
The Kazakhstan flag carrier said the new class can seat 12 and is housed in a separate cabin that contains rows 11-17.
Row 11 is not used as it has immoveable arm rests, so each Economy Sleeper passenger has three seats on either side of the aisle in rows 12-17.
A mattress, which is placed across the three seats, pillow and duvet are available to all Economy Sleeper passengers, while benefits include priority check-in and boarding, a 30kg baggage allowance, business class lounge access, a business class amenity kit and a business class in-flight entertainment system.
Air Astana flies from Astana International to London Heathrow T4 three-times weekly.
The cabin will be added onto Air Astana services to Paris Charles de Gaulle on March 29.
Richard Ledger, the airline's vice-president of worldwide sales, said: "Air Astana is delighted to introduce the new economy class Sleeper product, which provides many of the comforts and amenities of cusiness class, but is attractively priced at the equivalent full economy class fare.
"I'm confident that discerning passengers flying from Astana to European destinations will enjoy this class of travel, whilst experiencing Skytrax 4 Star award-winning levels of service."
