SAS launches new long-haul business menu

27 Jan 2015 by GrahamSmith

SAS will introduce a "restaurant experience in the air" in business class on long-haul flights from tomorrow.

The carrier said its new menu in long-haul SAS Business will feature more choice and "even more personal service and high quality in every respect".

Upgrades include an extra starter and main course to choose from, "proper" tablecloths and porcelain, and food will be served from a trolley to minimuse the use of trays.

Gustaf Oholm, the airline's senior manager of onboard concepts, said: "Our improved service concept, together with the totally new design of our cabin interiors, means we will be able to offer a genuinely high-class experience in SAS Business.

"Food and drink are incredibly important for our customers and this is an area where we have listened to what they want and developed our new concept accordingly.

"We have put an even great emphasis on the total experience in everything from food and drink, tablewear, personal service and the cabin atmosphere to create a genuine restaurant experience in the air."

SAS's long-haul destinations from Scandinavia are to New York, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo. In September, SAS will open a new route from Stockholm to Hong Kong.

The airline is currently updating its long-haul fleet afer unveiling the new-look interior last summer (see news, June 19).

Last week, SAS announced it will unveil its new Cafe Lounge concept at Trondheim and Tromso airports in Norway in the spring (see news, January 22).
