Cathay changes ticket purchase rules

23 Dec 2014 by GrahamSmith

Cathay Pacific passengers can now book tickets up to one hour before any scheduled flight departure, the airline has announced.

Tickets can be purchased directly through Cathay's website, reservations hotline or via travel agents.

Previously, passengers were required to go to the airport ticketing counters to make ticket purchases within four hours of the flight's scheduled departure time.

The phased implementation of the new airport check-in system began in June and is now available at nearly 100 destinations across the Cathay Pacific and Dragonair networks.

A statement said: "The airline has been making significant investments to improve its customer offering and cement its position as one of the world's most highly-regarded premium international carriers."

Earlier this month, Cathay launched its new route between Hong Kong and Manchester, the only direct non-stop service between the two destinations (see news, December 8).
