Hilton Worldwide's digital check-in service that lets Hilton HHonors members use their smartphone to check-in/out and choose their preferred room is now live in more than 4,100 hotels.
The facility, which is in place in 119 hotels in UK and Ireland, was initially rolled-out in July (see news, July 28).
It allows guests staying at a Hilton property to check-in and then select their exact room from a digital floor plan of the hotel.
They can also customise their stay by "purchasing upgrades and making special requests for items to be delivered to their room, on their mobile devices, tablets and computers".
Hilton HHonors members can select their room from 0600 the day before a booked stay by signing into their account on their mobile device, tablet or computer. Photos of rooms are available to aid selection.
Geraldine Calpin, Hilton Worldwide's global head of digital, said: "Digital check-in and room selection puts our guests in the driving seat and gives them unprecedented choice and control across their entire stay.
"Never before have guests been able to check-in, select their room from a digital floor plan and customise their room ready for arrival."
The mobile key technology will be available in the US across four Hilton brands – Hilton Hotels & Resort, Canopy by Hilton, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, and Conrad Hotel & Resorts - next year.
By the end of 2016, this technology will be available across the majority of rooms worldwide.
