12 Dec 2014 by GrahamSmith

Norwegian will next year start operating routes from Birmingham to Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga.

The budget airline will fly thrice-weekly to Madrid and Malaga and twice-weekly to Barcelona. All three services will be operated by B737-800 aircraft.

The Madrid route will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from March 31; the Malaga route on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from March 30; and the Barcelona route on Mondays and Fridays from June 1.

Thomas Ramdahl, Norwegian's CCO, said: "We are looking forward to offering our low fares and award-winning service to travellers in the greater Birmingham area and welcoming them on board our brand new and more environmentally friendly fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft with free wifi."

Norwegian will also launch a twice-weekly route from Edinburgh to Malaga on March 31.

The airline will next summer fly between London Gatwick and Orlando International (MCO) (see news, September 17).
