Qatar Airways A350 XWB delivery postponed

10 Dec 2014 by GrahamSmith

Qatar Airways will no longer be taking delivery of the first A350 XWB on Saturday.

The Gulf carrier, which has 80 of the wide-bodied aircraft on order, last week announced that it was to receive the Airbus jet on December 13 (see news, December 4).

But today, just three days before scheduled delivery, it has been announced that this has been postponed with no new date given.

Qatar Airways said in a statement: "The Airbus A350 aircraft ceremonial transfer of title has been postponed until further notice. With the imminent launch of the new Airbus A350 programme, both entities are committed to introducing the A350 very soon."

An Airbus spokesman said: "We are working very closely with Qatar Airways to meet our common goal to deliver their first A350 XWB very soon."

Qatar Airways postponed its inaugural A380 route to London Heathrow multiple times earlier this year (see news, July 7).

And yesterday, Etihad announced that it has postponed its second and third daily A380 services to London Heathrow (see news, December 9).
