German budget hotel group Motel One has opened its first London property, located on Minories Street between Aldgate and Tower Hill tube stations.
The 291-room hotel is the third in the UK by the group, joining two Motel One properties in Edinburgh (see news, November 2012).
Rooms start from £98 per night, and offer free wifi, Egyptian cotton bed linen, monsoon rain showers, and hanging / storage space.
Public spaces are limited, but there is a lounge and bar area decorated in a traditional English theme, with Chesterfield sofas, tweed and velvet covered armchairs and a fireplace. iPads are also available for guest use from the lounge.
Motel One first launched in 2000 with budget properties located close to German motorways, but has since refined its concept to focus on prime city centre locations including Brussels, Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich.
The group currently has 54 hotels open, with forthcoming properties slated for Manchester, Vienna and Amsterdam.
