IHG opens world's tallest Holiday Inn

Holiday Inn Manhattan-Financial DistrictIntercontinental Hotels Group has opened the world's tallest Holiday Inn property in New York.

The 50-storey Holiday Inn Manhattan-Financial District stands at 138 metres tall.

Some of the new-build's 492 guestrooms have views over the Hudson River and One World Trade Center. Each room contains a Keurig coffee maker and a flat-screen high-definition television.

The hotel features a business centre, a restaurant and free wifi.

IHG senior vice-president Heather Balsley said: "The opening of the Holiday Inn Manhattan-Financial District, the tallest Holiday Inn hotel in the world, is another milestone for our iconic brand, and we are excited about the role this property is playing in the revitalisation of Manhattan's historic Financial District.

"This beautiful hotel embodies our commitment to provide our guests what they value most when they are travelling — the contemporary design, modern amenities, and warm, welcoming service that distinguishes the Holiday Inn brand."

Holiday Inn Manhattan-Financial District is the 22nd Holiday Inn property to open in the New York City market. It is owned by Golden Seahorse and managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts.

In July, IHG announced it had signed four more Holiday Inn properties in the UK — Holiday Inn London - Heathrow T5; Holiday Inn London - West; Holiday Inn Cardiff - North M4 Jct.32; and Holiday Inn Birmingham North - Cannock (see news, July 15).
