Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced it will open Singapore's first Hotel Indigo property.
The 131-room Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong will be located in the Joo Chiat neighbourhood of Katong in east Singapore and will be a 15-minute drive from Changi airport.
In the same mixed-use development, IHG will also open Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong, a 451-room hotel that will be the third and largest Holiday Inn Express in Singapore.
Opening in 2016: Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong and Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong
Both properties are expected to open in 2016 as part of a management agreement with Katong Holdings Private Limited.
Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong will feature an all-day dining restaurant and a second food and beverage outlet, as well as a meeting room, swimming pool and fitness centre.
Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong will contain one meeting room, a breakfast area called The Great Room, a self-service business centre, a laundry room and access to the fitness centre.
Clarence Tan, IHG's senior vice-president of development, Asia, Middle East and Africa, said: "The opening of these two hotels will be significant milestones for our presence in Singapore. We will design the hotel to bring out the neighbourhood story in true Hotel Indigo fashion.
"Opening our third Holiday Inn Express alongside it means we are able to help our value-conscious guests experience the authentic ethnic cultures of Singapore from a whole new part of the city."
IHG opened its first Hotel Indigo property in France last month (see news, September 18).
