Virgin reveals more LAX Clubhouse details

22 Sep 2014 by GrahamSmith

Virgin Atlantic has unveiled more details about its forthcoming Clubhouse lounge at Los Angeles International Airport.

As exclusively revealed by Business Traveller earlier this month, the carrier will open the LAX facility as part of £300 million it is investing in "customer experience" (see news, September 3).

The 4,000 sqm lounge, which will become Virgin's 11th Clubhouse, will overlook the Hollywood Hills and is scheduled to open next spring.

It is being created by Virgin's in-house design team in partnership with Slade Architecture. It will feature pieces by both California-based artists and British artists.

A statement said: "The food will take inspiration from clean, healthy west coast living and at the apothecary-inspired bar, cocktails will be the main event. Healthy juices infused with seeds and spices will be on offer, along with a shot on the side for those who like something a little stronger."

Entry into the Clubhouse will be complimentary for Virgin Atlantic Upper Class passengers.

Reuben Arnold, Virgin Atlantic's brand and customer engagement director, said: "Los Angeles was the natural choice for our next Clubhouse investment. It is such an important route for us ? we have been flying there for 24 years now and we see so much repeat custom especially in our Upper Class cabin.

"Our Clubhouses have always set the standard for airport lounges in terms of experience, service and design and we are delighted to bring our ultimate pre-flight experience to our customers travelling through Los Angeles."
