Qatar Airways adds B787 to Vienna route

2 Sep 2014 by GrahamSmith

Qatar Airways has begun operating a daily B787 Dreamliner service between Doha and Vienna.

The Gulf carrier yesterday replaced the A320 that previously flew the route with the Boeing aircraft, a change that represents a 92 per cent increase in capacity.

The airline had earlier this year announced plans to upgrade the A320 to an A330 (see news, April 22). It appears this was abandoned in favour of the B787, which contains 22 seats in business class and 232 seats in economy.

Qatar Airways is the first airline to operate a regular B787 service to Vienna.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, outbound service QR183 departs Doha at 0835 and arrives in Vienna at 1325 local time. Return flight QR184 takes off from Vienna at 1615 and lands in Doha at 2235 local time.

On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, outbound flight QR181 leaves Doha at 0150 and arrives in Vienna at 0640, while return service QR182 departs Vienna at 1145 and lands in Vienna at 1805.

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said: "Passengers from Austria can now fly to more than 140 destinations worldwide with Qatar Airways via the world-class Hamad International Airport in Doha."
