Marriott International has significantly expanded the locations where its mobile check-in and checkout service can be used.
Previously only available at its flagship Marriott brand (see news, December 2013), the app has now been launched at an additional 11 brands.
These are the Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Autograph Collection, AC Hotels, Courtyard, SpringHill Suites, Fair field Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, Towne Place Suites and Marriott Executive Apartments.
Properties under these brands will gradually be introducing mobile check-in, checkout service in the weeks to come.
It should be noted that the use of the service is restricted to Marriott Rewards members.
Upon downloading the Marriott Mobile app, members can check-in through their smartphones from 1600 the day before arrival. They will then receive an automatic notification when the room is ready.
On arrival, guests then head to the mobile check-in desk and collect their key cards, which will be ready and waiting.
Finally, at the end of their stay, guests will receive a notification informing them that mobile checkout is available.
Those interested in using the service can input their email address where their bill will be sent. This will allow them to bypass the front desk.
