BA A380 to serve Washington in October

25 Jul 2014 by GrahamSmith

British Airways will start its A380 service between London Heathrow and Washington Dulles in early October.

The airline will from October 2 until October 25 operate the superjumbo five-times weekly. A B747 will ply the route on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during that period.

From October 26, flights BA216 and BA217 will run daily. However, there will be no service, by A380 or otherwise, on November 27 and 28.

Outbound flight BA217 departs LHR at 1115 and land in Washington at 1425 local time. Return service BA216 takes off from Washington at 1825 and arrives in London at 0620 the following day.

BA had originally scheduled its Washington superjumbo service to start in September (see news, December 2013).

The carrier first rostered the A380 onto its Los Angeles route in September last year (see news, September 2013). It now flies the aircraft twice daily to LAX, daily to Hong Kong, and six times weekly to Johannesburg.

From October 28, it will launch a three-times weekly superjumbo service to Singapore (see news, February 19).
