Easyjet poll unveils 7F as most popular seat

5 Jun 2014 by GrahamSmith

Easyjet has revealed that 7F is the most popular seat on its aircraft while 19C is the least popular.

The airline polled 10,000 passengers from countries across Europe and found that 59 per cent of respondents preferred a window seat, while 38 per cent favoured an aisle seat.

Unsurprisingly, just 3 per cent choose the middle seat and this is "usually after letting their partner take the window or aisle".

Business travellers, however, are the most likely demographic to opt for an aisle seat (46 per cent).

Rows six and seven sell out the quickest, while the right-hand side of the plane is more popular then the left, Easyjet said.

The airline's fleet is predominantly made up of A319 and A320 aircraft with seating configured in a 3-3 formation. To read a review of an Easyjet flight in seat 7F, coincidentally published today, click here.

Peter Duffy, Easyjet's group commercial director, said: "The window versus aisle debate is one of the most frequently overheard conversations while flying.

"Since introducing allocated seating in 2012, all Easyjet passengers have been able to select their seat and by combining that data with feedback from thousands of travellers we've mapped out the most popular parts of the plane.

"The window is overwhelmingly the most coveted position, but particularly popular amongst Portuguese passengers and people aged 25 or under.

"As passengers get older the aisle becomes increasingly popular and it is also a sought after seat for frequent flyers travelling on business or visiting their second home."

Easyjet's survey found UK passengers are the most likely to try and avoid the middle seat with 56 per cent preferring the window and 41 per cent the aisle.

The Portuguese, meanwhile, are the most passionate about obtaining a window seat with 80 per cent preferring it.

The poll also showed that you are most likely to find female passengers under 25 from Portugal and Czech Republic in the window seat; passengers aged between 45 and 54 in the middle seat; and male passenges aged 65 or over from Holland and Germany in the aisle seat.
