Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) has unveiled its new design for Holiday Inn Express.
IHG says that the updated prototype design has been created "to further position the Holiday Inn Express brand as the 'smart' choice for guests and owners".
The prototype is for the US and Canada at present, and focusses on guests' needs for efficiency and simplicity.
For the bedroom, this means a functional and flexible working area, horizontal luggage storage that allows guests to maximise their space, moveable seating, neutral colours and "interesting textural combinations".
In the lobby, the signature Great Room is a multi-purpose area with breakfast bar, dining area and additional seating areas.
Other features include a business centre, a 24-hour shop, individual check-in pods in the lobby and meeting space with both "functional" and natural light.
Holiday Inn Express hotels are aimed at what IHG terms "value-oriented travellers".
