Etihad to up services to Pakistan

5 Feb 2014 by GrahamSmith

Etihad Airways will increase its services from London Heathrow and Manchester to Islamabad and Peshawar via its Abu Dhabi base next month.

The Gulf carrier currently operates 11 weekly flights from both UK airports to Islamabad and two per week to Peshawar.

From March 30, it will run a double-daily service to Islamabad and five weekly flights to Peshawar.

The additional services will be operated by A320 aircraft, with 16 seats in business class and 120 in economy.

Kevin Knight, Etihad's chief strategy and planning officer, said: "Pakistan is a growing market for Etihad Airways, as passenger demand, connectivity choice, and frequency enhancements continue to drive business and leisure traffic onto our expanding global network."

Earlier this week, it was announced that Etihad and Alitalia are close to agreeing a deal that will see the Abu Dhabi carrier invest in the struggling Italian airline (see news, February 3).
