Easyjet is to axe its Southend to Edinburgh route in June.
The budget airline currently operates five weekly flights between the Essex airport, where it set up a base in 2012 (see news, June 2011), and the Scottish capital.
It will end the service on June 15.
A statement from Easyjet said: "Southend continues to be a successful base for Easyjet and we will continue to focus the flying schedule there on the routes with the greatest demand."
Easyjet has continued to amend its schedule from Southend in recent months with the launch of a service to Tenerife last month (see news, September 25) and the cutting of Belfast flights from January 6 (see news, September 10).
David Lister, Southend's operations director, said: "Since Easyjet opened its base here in March 2012, it has enjoyed huge success with some of the highest customer satisfaction levels across its European network recorded here.
"This summer they added an additional aircraft to the base and have consistently expanded the number of destinations on offer from Southend. We look forward to continuing and growing this relationship."
