6 Dec 2013 by GrahamSmith

Iberia is adding an extra three flights per week to its Madrid to Santiago route.

The Spanish carrier will fly ten times weekly to the Chilean capital for the remainder of the winter season, until the end of February.

Iberia has been operating a daily service that leaves Madrid-Barajas airport at 0020 and lands at Arturo Merino Benitez airport in Santiago at 0955 local time.

The three extra flights depart Madrid at 1315 and arrive in Santiago at 2240 on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The return flights on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays take off from Chile at 0010 and land in Spain at 1710.

Iberia deploys 342-seat Airbus A340-600s on the route.

Last month, the airline took delivery of the first aircraft featuring the new livery and logo (see news, November 25).
