Etihad Guest members can earn bonus miles when visiting fan zones and use their miles to buy Manchester City merchandise as part of the football club's Sky Blue international membership program which launches today.
Card-carrying fans can also avail of discounts of up to 40% on Etihad's Abu Dhabi-Manchester flights - to get the full 40%, you have to fly three round trips previously, but the 'multiflyer' still represents good value (total fare for six segments is AED5,400 per person). Members also receive a free upgrade to Pearl business class on their first outbound journey.
There is no fee to join Sky Blue. Etihad Guest members automatically become a Sky Blue on enrollment.
Etihad Chief Commercial Officer Peter Baumgartner said when it announced its 10-year partnership with the club in July, it would be more than just putting the Etihad name on the stadium.
"Rather, by participating in programs such as this and engaging with the fans, providing added benefits for the Sky Blue members, we are creating a brand synergy that goes far beyond the traditional sponsor relationship," he said.
