Qatar Airways and Brazil´s Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes have implemented a codeshare agreement designed to boost travel between the Middle East and South America.
It enables travellers from Doha to connect to Gol's 46 destinations across Brazil, through Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport where Qatar recently began direct flights on B777-200LRs, and provides Gol with a foothold in Qatar's network, particularly the Middle East and Asia.
Qatar passengers can buy a single itinerary combining flights on both carriers’ networks, affording them the ease of one-stop ticketing and through baggage check-in.
Gol has more than 900 daily departures to dozens of key Brazilian cities, including Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Curitiba, Foz da Iguaçú, Porto Alegre, Florianópolis and Londrina.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said whether passengers are flying to or from Brazil, it can now offer a "seamless experience".
Emirates will start daily services to Buenos Aires via Rio de Janeiro from January 3 next year (click here).
