Marriott targets 'hotel a month' in China

You can't accuse Marriott International of lacking ambition in China.
The US hospitality giant plans to open one hotel every month during the next three years, even if it concedes labour costs may make that unlikely, according to a report by chinadaily.com.
The construction drive comes as the company has announced that it will build its 100th hotel in China, a JW Marriott Hotel with 345 rooms in Shenyang, Liaoning province.
Among the 26 hotel deals the company has signed in China this year, 23 will be located in second- and third-tier cities.
With only suburban space available in big cities, Marriott is eyeing more lucrative locations in smaller cities.
