Jumeirah Creekside in central Dubai is now targeting a summer opening.
The hotel will contain 270 rooms and 22 suites, two signature restaurants, two cafes, a rooftop bar, lobby lounge, Akaru spa, health club and conference and banqueting facilities. It is located within the grounds of the Dubai Tennis Stadium, near the Irish Village and Century Village.
Its proximity to the airport and range of sporting and leisure activities - the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is on the other side of the road - are expected to make it popular with business travellers.
Klaus Assmann, who has been with Jumeirah for eight years, has been appointed General Manager.
Dubai Duty Free signed a management agreement with Jumeirah last January for the group to operate the five-star hotel.
Meanwhile Jumeirah has been linked with new projects in Turkey recently. A spokeswoman said it is "very interested" in the Turkish market and is considering a number of opportunities, but nothing is confirmed.
The group is about to undertake the management of the five-star Grand Hotel Via Veneto in Rome, its first project in Italy. Marco Metge has been appointed Acting General Manager.
