Gulf Air suspends nine services

Bahrain-based Gulf Air has suspended flights to Beirut, Iraq and Iran on account of the ongoing security situation.
Its daily services to Beirut have been halted until May 31 while flights to Basra, Erbil, Baghdad, Najaf, Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Mashad have been suspended until June 30.
A Gulf Air spokesman said he was hopeful Beirut would come back in June, but the situation was constantly under review.
He stressed it was business as usual at Bahrain, however, and that its summer schedule is now "full on".
Passengers holding confirmed tickets for travel during these dates can rebook for a later Gulf Air flight in the same booking class to the same destination for travel up to and including September 30 at no additional charge.
Compounding the airline's problems has been an incident at Bahrain International Airport in which an A330 clipped a parked A340 being towed by ground handlers.
The spokesman said no passengers were affected and both aircraft would undergo full checks.

If you ask me Bahrain isn't any safer at the moment, so perhaps Gulf services to Bahrain should be suspended too.
