Gulf Air suspends Iraq and Iran flights
Originally published on www.businesstravellerme.com 17/03/2011 - Filed under:
Gulf Air has suspended services between Bahrain and Iraq until March 18 and services to Iran until March 20 amid ongoing regional unrest and the introduction of a state of emergency in the Kingdom. Flights are scheduled to operate to both destinations thereafter.
Corporates who have booked a ticket for a Gulf Air flight with their journey starting or terminating in Bahrain, for travel up to and including March 20, can rebook with the carrier in the same booking class, for the same routing for travel up to and including April 30, at no additional charge.
It’s the latest disruption to hit the airline following the suspension of Alexandria (March 6) and Aleppo (March 1) services, and followed the temporary closure of the King Fahd Bahrain-Saudi Arabia causeway on Monday.

We are at the time of Persian New Year holidays that many Iranians planned to travel with Gulf air to other countries. Now the flights are declared to be canceled and the airline calls to pay the money back but doesn't show any responsibility about the damages assorted to the passengers about the hotel and visa charges and also about their holidays that was ruined.
I believe the action of this airline is out of international norms and should be followed in the international organizations to preserve passengers right. Also Iran government should terminate flight permission of this airline permanently.
