The first Le Méridien Hub has been unveiled in Barcelona.
The concept, which will be gradually introduced globally, aims to inject life into hotel lobbies by making them more sociable, and encourage people to talk and exchange ideas. They are also designed to create positive first impressions for arriving guests.
Alongside a communcal seating area is a Latitude Bar, which serves signature coffees by day and wines by night.
While new to Le Méridien, the idea isn't totally new to Starwood, which has modelled its W lobbies as 'living rooms' and introduced Link@Sheraton at its Sheraton hotels.
It is also an idea gaining favour among other brands, with Holliday Inn recently launching its Hub in Atlanta (click here).
Le Méridien Istanbul Etiler, Le Méridien Oran Hotel & Convention Centre and Le Méridien Bali-Jimbaran, all scheduled to open in 2012, will feature the new concept, as will existing Le Méridien hotels in Brussels, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
