Dubai International introduces SnoozeCubes

Weary transit passengers flying through Dubai International Airport can now catch some rest by staying in a 'SnoozeCube'.
Ten sound-proofed units have been installed next to Gate 122 at Terminal 1 and each unit contains a full-sized bed, touch-screen TV offering a selection of entertainment and music, as well as high-speed internet.
Units can be hired on an hourly basis with rates starting from AED65 ($17.80) per hour for the first four hours.
The creator of the SnoozeCube, Larry Swann, said Dubai is the first airport to install the system, which has been designed and built in New Zealand.
"Adopting innovative ideas has helped keep Dubai at the forefront of the travel and tourism industries," said Swann. "And the SnoozeCube is the perfect fit. Having researched airports around the world I realised that the travel experience can be enhanced by providing passengers a place to rest that is convenient, affordable, comfortable and safe."
Dubai International, on course to handle 51 million passengers in 2011, continues to grow rapidly, and in recent times, the sight of passengers sleeping on seats near gates - and even floors - has become more commonplace with space at a premium.
The SnoozeCube marks a step in the right direction in providing passengers with comfortable, private areas to rest before catching onward flights.
