Austrian ups baggage allowance

Austrian Airlines has simplified its baggage allowance conditions this month and given executives flying business class two more kilos per bag.
Business class passengers can now check in two items of baggage totalling 64kgs (32kg each) and take on board two items of hand luggage totalling 12kgs (first up to 8kgs, the second up to 4kgs).
Economy class passengers can check in one item of baggage weighing up to 23kgs, 3kgs more than previously.
The ‘baggage item concept’ has already been in use on flights to the US and Canada for some time, but now conditions are being standardised across its network.
Passengers need to be wary of excess charges though. A second item of baggage weighing up to 23kgs in economy carried within Europe or on long-haul flights, for example, will cost €50 per leg.
Next week, the airline resumes services between Vienna-Baghdad after a 21-year gap (click here).
As reported by Business Traveller last November, Austrian is introducing new economy class seating to cut down on fuel costs (click here).
