Although there is no lounge in Cancun all Club World customers get access to TGI Fridays with a voucher for a drink and a light meal pre-flight.
Given the lounge is a bit grim, and doesn't serve food, this is a better option IMHO.

The easiest thing to do would be to cap and collar compensation at a multiple of the fare paid, say four times (excluding taxes) with a lower limit of €200.
And also to work with the airlines to reduce the punitive costs of administering...

Who pays is the key here.
You may think you benefit with a handout in the short term, but in the long term EVERYONE pays through higher air fares.
I am all for a modest, sensible fixed rate for compensation to cover the very basic...
