Thanks for all the feedback, Emirates not gaining a lot of votes.....my concern is ending up with a cradle seat PER-HKG.
Regarding price, Emirates and Cathay a very reasonable 3k, Singapore 4k and QANTAS 5k.

The verdict...seat position did matter. Sat towards the back of upper class, first off the plane. 2 counters open and a KLM flight landing the same time. Friend on the flight was sitting in 2a, got through security 70 minutes after me.
