Very true KeaneJohn - airlines are alliance for the paper benefits only. SIA does not allow diamond club ( BMI) customers to fly business class on the A380 or 77W , so no flights available from Lhr to SIn . Then I find out that you cannot use...

LH business class is on the lower deck front section. First cabin is spacious and always loads of empty seats. Snack meal is not up to the standard of Thai. But it's a cheap fare for the route.

Shame but star alliance frequent will not be able to use the flights using miles as SQ does not allow business class seats to be allocated to star alliance members. One wonders what is the the purpose of having SQ in star alliance?
