LuganoPirateParticipantCan’t have been an easy operation. I’ve learnt from experience if stranded make a hotel booking yourself immediately so you have a decent room then sort it out with the airline. Most people wait for the airline to find them a room and sometimes that can mean an overnighter on the airport floor!

AMcWhirterParticipantA pictures has emerged on twitter today via @W7VOA
It shows that the Turkish A330 is still at Kathmandu airport. But the livery has been painted over to disguise the airline’s identity and the engines have been removed.
The plane’s future remains unclear.

SchaibleParticipantThanks for the update. I have heard rumors that the A330 should be repaired and brought back to service however currently looks more like TK is writing it off. Insurance matters have also not been finalized yet so for the time being nothing will happen. Over painting the logo and registration number / letters is common practice in the airline industry for wrecked aircraft.

AMcWhirterParticipantThe Turkish Airlines crashed A330 never departed Kathmandu.
It is expected this A330 will be scrapped.
