TAP have announced that, from 1 June 2011, Manchester will be the 3rd UK airport served by the airline, with 6 flights a week to Lisbon.

Business and Economy classes will be offered, with fares starting at £55 one way.

TAP are promoting their onward links to South America via Lisbon, which may be useful for North West passengers if fares are attractive, however Lisbon itself is a great destination and a direct link from the North is very welcome, I think.
