Sydney Airport scraps plans for alliance-based mega-terminals

    This actually made sense – that Sydney would be overhauled to have just two terminals, each sharing domestic and international flights based on airline alliances, which would have made a lot of sense for transfers instead of having to trek from the international to domestic terminal (or vice versa) as happens today.

    But Sydney Airport’s now scrapped that sensible-sounding plan, although it hasn’t said exactly what it will replace it with!

    Interesting news.

    Rather like Lords Reform, or the misguided Republican movement, without elucidating exactly what the replacement will be, it is difficult to know whether this will be a good or bad thing.

    It does, however, seem prudent not to hard-wire infrastructure to what might be a fluid alliance situation; it should be just as easy to transfer from one terminal to another as would be the case if such a transfer was within a single terminal.
