Interesting how slow LH were to adapt on this issue compared to carriers like Cathay. Fleet size may be a reason? Or just poor timing?
The answer is that Lufthansa, as mentioned above, is a cautious airline rather than a leader. Remember how long it took the airline to introduce flat bed seats in business class.

But to be fair there have been some interesting developments/innovations:

    * Lufthana’s first class Frankfurt terminal
    * Its “seat and a bed” concept for B747 first class. We wrote about this in 2011 but it has now been discontinued as the B747s in question have left the fleet.

Here’s an interesting article that rebukes LH’s deserving of five star status. I’m not really familiar with the methodology in how Skytrax comes up with its ratings but this guy does make good points.

Indeed, a very interesting critique of the Lufthansa award and its somewhat dubious origin can be seen here:

If you accept this, Lufthansa has its 5* rating ‘on tick’…… Not very German in my experience (said as someone who is 50% German!!).
