It happened years ago between Paris and Lyon. Now the same thing is happening on the Paris-Bordeaux route.

Since the new TGV line opened in July fewer passengers are taking the plane between Paris and Bordeaux.

The piece we published refers mainly to London-Paris-Bordeaux by train. But we did include some information on the faster TGV services between Paris Montparnasse, Bordeaux and SW France.

Good competition, more comfortable seating too, some with tables!
Went to the Paris Air Salon on Eurostar and while its easier on a day trip by air the journey was pleasant and better value.
Now one has to provide your own food and beverages on airline and Eurostar,if you have the time let the train take the strain.

Sadly nothing new. Air France dropped Strasbourg-Paris flights several years ago, now replaced by chartered trains, fewer rotations and inconvenient timings for connections. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose ….

Would these domestic runs not be suitable to be picked up by Joon ?

For short journeys the train would always be my preferred option for many reasons, mainly reliability, comfort, dignify, and speed. One of the very few things the French do well, apart from strikes, is high speed trains, although you can’t get a proper meal on a train in France.
